*Psi and Bar relates to the pressure inside the gas spring cylinder for this series.
*Kg and Lbs relates to the weight balanced by a specific Newton for this series
*Force For each application add 10% force to compensate for friction etc.
FORCE CALCULATION FOR HATCHES AS FOLLOWS:
Using 1 gas spring 8-18-150 with 700 Newton Force:
With a hatch of max 23.5 inch or 600 mm length with a weight of max 77 Lbs. or 35 kg
Using 2 gas springs with 700 Newton Force a hatch can weigh max. 154 lbs. or 70 kg.
Max Hatch Length: Best be max. 23.5 inches or 600 mm.
Length is the distance from the hinge pin to the locking side.
Install the gas spring as far away as possible from the hinge within the range of the stroke.
Alternative: For a smooth operation we suggest using the next series up – a 10-23-200 with 700 Newton Force.
Please note: Torque on the hinges will be at least be twice the force of the weight of the hatch.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Use incremental lesser force for gas springs when hatch is lighter.
Use gas spring with a shorter stroke for smaller hatches.
When the hatch is thick, use a gas spring with the next size up. (For instance: 150 mm stroke)
Use our 10-23 series gas springs with a Newton Forces up to 1200 N
Use our 14-28 series gas springs with a Newton Forces up to 2500 N.
Concidder our charging Kit #63.110 for professional users to charge your own gas spring.
Considder our Bleeding Kit #63.001 to bleed down the pressure in your gas spring.
Use mathematical calculations and scaled drawings
to identify gas springs size and series to find the correct force setting.
