FORCE CALCULATION FOR HATCHES AS FOLLOWS:
CAUTION: Forces are high when using the 10-23 and 14-28 series gas springs.
Use profesional engineers to help calculate the correct set up.
This includes strong deck reinforments, hinge structures and brackets.
Using 1 gas spring 10-23-100 with 1200 Newton Force:
A hatch of max 13 inch or 380 mm length with a weight of max 132 Lbs. or 60 kg
Using gas springs with 1200 Newton Force a hatch can weigh max. 264 lbs. or 120 kg.
Max Hatch Length: Best be max. 13 inches or 380 mm.
Length is the distance from the hinge pin to the locking side.
Install the gas spring as far away as possible from the hinge within the range of the stroke.
Alternative: For a smooth operation we advise using the next series up.
For instance a 14-28-100 series gas spring with 1200 Newton. Note: Different overal length!
Please note: Torque on the hinges will be at least be twice the force of the weight of the hatch.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Use incremental lesser force for gas springs when hatch is lighter.
Use gas spring with a shorter stroke for smaller hatches.
When the hatch is thick, use a gas spring with the next size up. (For instance: 10-23-series with 150 mm stroke)
Use our 14-28 series gas springs with a Newton Forces up to 2500 N.
